A few more days...

A few more days pass and I realize that I haven't posted! So this one will be picture heavy because of that reason. Before I post the pictures I wanted to mark this day as the day Lauren took more than two steps. Eric, Lauren and I were in the living room when Lauren saw the cat across the room. She of course wanted to catch him so she took about 6 steps before she fell down. We were so proud! Of course we weren't able to catch it on video, but we both saw it (me and eric.. not me and the cat :P)

Ok on to the pictures!

It was Tai Tai's birthday on Monday, so a lot of the family went to Kotobuki to celebrate with her. Even though I didn't get a good picture of Tai Tai and Lauren I got a bunch of Lauren being popo'd by family.
Auntie Becca popo'd me

Uncle Jon popo'd me. Hi Kai Kai!

Auntie Andi popo'd me

Auntie Harr popo'd me

Greg popo'd me.
Ok Greg wasn't too sure about carrying Lauren, but he was a trooper and carried her. She did reach out to him... It's not like we put her in his arms and left him :P

Eric has his own baby to carry but he somehow snuck in a carry of Moi Moi. Moi Moi was given a chance to choose between Uncle Eric and some of the Aunties, and she reached out to Uncle Eric.

Uncle Kenny was in town for a wedding so Lauren got to spend some quality time with him. She really enjoyed her time with him as she would reach out to him, even if I was carrying her! She thought of him as her new playmate! Here they are giggling together.

That was a very eventful day.

Here are some candid shots of her playing during the week.

Lauren playing in her basket of toys.

Lauren about to go into the master bathroom where she isn't allowed to go.
Yes, that is her guilty look.

Grandpa caught this picture of her this morning in the jacket Uncle Kenny gave her for Christmas. She's my little pink bear!

We Did It!

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Dora the Explorer but there is a song they sing at the end called "We Did It!" They do this little dance and sing. I showed Lauren this song and I showed her how to dance to it. So now when she sees and hears this song she does a little dance. I have captured a little bit of it here. It is transferred from me taking a video of it playing back from another video since I do not have software to convert the original video.

A visit with Auntie Anne

Auntie Anne was up in Monterey for a conference so we decided to go an d visit her today. She was staying at Uncle Greg's place.

We saw a cute little hat hanging on Greg's wall so Lauren tried it on for size. She also wanted to play with the empty water bottles in the kitchen.
Lauren still had swim class so we only stayed for lunch. Auntie Anne carried Lauren through some of the shops in the neighborhood while we were waiting for a seat. Thanks for visiting with us Anne!
Here is Auntie Anne and Lauren just before we were about to leave. It was pretty windy but Lauren and auntie braved it for the pic.

Here is Lauren after swim class.

And yes here is a pic of the tooth that has cropped up in her mouth!

Boxes are my new friend

Lauren is very fascinated with boxes. Taking things out of them, looking in them, trying to figure out what they are. She has been known to spend 20 minutes playing with an empty box.

"I am going to help Grandma and Grandpa empty out this box"

"Do you need these slippers for anything?"

"Well, if there is nothing in the box, I will just sit in it."

I like to climb

Well, we all knew it would happen eventually. Lauren likes to climb on things. She will step on any object to get a little higher, so we have to watch what is on the ground that she could use as a step stool. She climbs all over her toys too.

Here she is climbing all over Hannah and Sophie's walker at Auntie Joy's house.

"Mom are you watching? I am gonna climb over and play with Hannah."

"Here I go..."

After all that climbing I need a good nap...
The chub roll on her leg is slowly getting smaller :(.
Her feet are getting bigger though :)

Tummy Time Revisited

Instead of playing on her tummy, she now plays with her tummy! Of course it takes someone prompting her to do it, but it is funny to watch. She has a little bed head from waking up from a nap but you can see Daddy encouraging her to play with her tummy.

She is starting to try to talk more and more nowadays. She really does think she is telling you something when she is talking to you.

Oh, on another note, her first tooth finally broke through the gums. I have been telling Eric that it is coming for over a week, and it finally showed up! We noticed it on Friday of last week. (May 16) It is barely out but you can see it and feel it. I will try to catch a picture of her with her mouth open, but that is an adventure in itself.

Playing around the house

Here Lauren is playing around the house

Here she playing in the gated area in the living room. She mainly uses the gate area to cruise around, but every once in a while she will play with the toys on the gate.
Here's an action shot of her crawling. I love the expression on her face!!
Ok, this one isn't playing. It is after she got up from a nap. I took it for the bed head shot :P.

Here she poses for Mommy, what a cutie!

She is strong enough to hang out on Daddy's shoulders now. She gives Daddy a good head scratching while she is up there.

May 15, 2008

I haven't taken very many pictures lately even though Lauren has been more active. I will blame it on the cold that I am finally getting over. Lauren had a cold too, but hers didn't seem to bother her as much.

She hasn't seen Grandma and Grandpa for a few days so she spent the afternoon with them. They tell me she said "bubbles" or her form of the word. I have heard it before but at least it isn't just me and Grandpa who think she says it. She also goes about talking to herself and what I think is singing. Here is a cute little outfit Grandma brought back for her from Hawaii. It was nice for her to wear in the heat wave we have been having.
She is standing on her own really well now. Even though I am holding her hand in this picture, she doesn't need it. She is able to squat down from a stand not holding on to anything. She can also lift little things from squat to full stand. Another thing shed does now is she gauges how far her next piece of furniture is before taking a step. She will at most take one step without holding on to anything before she transfers from one piece of furniture to the next. If it is more than that she takes a second to think about it and then gets on her hands and knees and crawls. It is cool to see her think about it. The wheels are definitely turning in there.

Joy, Hannah, Der and Sophie came by for a visit today and here is Hannah saying goodbye with a smile.

I took this one yesterday. I wanted to see what she would do if I put my headphones on her. She was confused by the sounds but after she saw me wearing them then she wasn't so fussy about putting them on.

More from Auntie Harr's

This is a video from last week but since I didn't take any new pics today I thought I would post it.

Lauren is always so proud and happy when she does something. Here she is standing up on Auntie Harr's side table. Thanks Uncle Giff for making sure she doesn't bonk her head on the corner.

10 Months Old!

Lauren is now 10 months old. She doesn't have any teeth yet and she doesn't walk but we know both of those things are just around the corner. Here are some pics to commemorate the occasion.

Here she is with big gorilla. Now that she is aware of her surroundings she actually looks at big gorilla in a "Who are you?" manner as seen in the second pic. She will not lean up against big gorilla.

Here she is with Burly bear. Her cheeks look all shiny from the aquaphor. Aquaphor helps her cheeks not be so scaly.

We tried to get a picture of how tall she was but it was hard to get her to stand still. Yes, it is a trend we are trying to prepare for. It looks like she is 28 inches according to this chart.

And as you see on her shirt. She is and will always be "Daddy's little princess!"

Trying to catch a still picture

Trying to catch a still picture of Lauren is getting harder and harder. Most of the time she just wants the camera in my hands so I have to distract her with other objects while I take a pic.

Here she is on our bed after her bath coming toward me cuz she sees the camera.
Here she is doing "Twinkle, Twinkle" as I try to get her to sit still by singing to her.
I finally gave her an object that she likes to play with: a cell phone. The cell phone doesn't work but I was pretending to talk on it and then I handed it to her to talk on. The pic is a little fuzzy because of low lighting but I thought it was a cute pic.

She turns 10 months old tomorrow!

Babbling and Playing

Lauren has been babbling a lot more lately. You will often catch her babbling as she is playing with her toys. Sometimes if you are lucky you can catch her what sounds like her is singing to herself. I haven't caught that one on video yet but here she is just babbling.

Dinner at Auntie Harr's

We had dinner at Auntie Harr's house on Sunday. It was nice to get together for dinner and of course the food was yummy. Lauren got to play a little bit before dinner. And the uncles got to popo her.

I also got to see the famous booster seat that was used by the Fong cousins when they were little. I should have taken a picture of it, I will next time for all to reminisce about.

Twinkle Twinkle

Grandma and Grandpa have been showing Lauren the hand motion while singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I had no idea that there was hand motions for that song. Here is a sample of it. It takes her a little while to get going and then she is looking at daddy while she is doing it instead of the camera.

Please excuse the bad lighting, tracking issues and funny singing. I try to catch what I can when I can :)

The girl cousins (Fong side)

It was a good chance to see the girl cousins at the wedding of Mike and Cary. So here are snapshots of them on that hot day.

Here is Moi Moi taking a nap on Uncle Rod. She looks very content.

Here is Kai showing us how to stay out of the sun with the parasol.
I think this is after Lauren took a nap too. She tends to get bed head after naps.
And of course the beautiful Miss Sally with her matching purse.

I don't have a picture of the newest girl cousin Layla, in our family since I didn't think to take a picture of her at the wedding.
