A hot day

What better to do on a hot day than have ice cream! Here she is enjoying some raspberry soy ice cream with Grandpa. She sits patiently as Grandpa feeds her. I am sure this feels good on her gums as we think she has been having a hard time with teething lately.

Grandma and Grandpa have been working on getting her to say please and you may hear it as "peasss" but we know she is trying. She is also saying the word "yesh" (yes) a lot. But don't worry the word "no" is in her vocabulary as well. She definitely knows what that means...

This last pic is for Uncle Kenny.

Lauren is "in"

I am sure all babies go through this phase of going into things, and Lauren is no exception.

"Cheese, mama!"

"Surely this drum has other uses..."

"Hey, I'm playing in here. Please don't make me come out."

In The Bucket

That is where the sand is supposed to end up right? We have shown Lauren how to shovel the sand into the bucket, and she will do it on occasion. But the pics you see below is what happens the majority of the time.

"Ok I have a little sand and I will try to ease it into the bucket."

"Ah it is so much fun to flip it in the air though!"

"Wooohoooo!"

Just as a warning if you are playing in the sand with her; Don't sit behind her and not pay attention. She will flip it back over her shoulder before you know it and you will end up with sand all over you and in your hair.

I like Auntie Vincy because...

She reads to me...

from a toy catalog.

Pushes me on the swings...

fast and high just how I like it.

Shows me how to do the still rings...

and protects me from the big rude kids.

Takes me down the slide...

again and again and again. :)

This past Sunday Auntie Vincy invited us to have dim sum with her family and we happily accepted. Afterwards we went for yogurt down in downtown San Mateo. Next to the yogurt shop is a nice toy store called Talbots. Lauren had a fun time playing with the display toys in this store. It had the outdoor play gyms, some pull wagons, and some display doll houses that she looked at. She really liked this tiny wooden kitty that was a part of this Plan Toys doll house. She walked around with it and kept saying "Mow Mow". She also kept going to the ball display to take out the big purple ball to play with.

After playing in the toy store we walked to the park. She wanted Uncle Micah to carry her but we forced her to ride in her stroller. She played in the sand for a little bit showing us how to shovel sand into the air with some of it landing in her bucket. Lauren then moved on to the swings where she was having a grand old time with Auntie Vincy. Every time we asked her if she wanted to get out of the swing she would sign "more". After the swings she got to play on the slide which she loves. Once she goes down she tries to climb back up to do it again. Auntie Vincy was nice enough to take Lauren down the big slide on her lap.

Thanks for spending time with us Auntie Vincy and Uncle Micah. Lauren really enjoyed her time with you guys!

The Chameleon

Lauren has discovered how to climb up to the tomato plants in Grandma and Grandpa's garden. She will probably hide amongst the plants when she gets older. She just so happened to wear a nice matching shade of green today. By the end of the day her pants also happened to look like a nice shade of dirt.

Ah, happiness amongst the foliage.

"Am I allowed to pick this tomato?"

"How about this big one? For you?"

The expression on her face makes me think she is saying "Oh?!"

Is my hair long enough yet?

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I am not that girly but the thought of putting Lauren's hair in pigtails seems to strike me as something that would be cute. I did not have the right materials to do this, and it was right before her bedtime so I wasn't that successful :( But here are a couple of pics at my attempt!

Maybe tomorow I will have the right type of clips for this to work...

Preview

Below is just a picture of Lauren in a grassy area. I am posting it just because I like it :) She loves to run around in the grass so I am sure many of our future posts will have her in a field of green.

Auntie Juney was kind enough to buy Lauren a costume for Halloween and below is a preview of Lauren in the costume. Yep that is my little girl in the piggy outfit. The costume also comes with these arm and ankle things that make her feet and hands look like hooves. Very cute!

Auntie Juney gets too hug the extra padding Lauren has on! She took off the hat though.

Later on that night I got to take a pic of Lauren with Daddy. She has been having fun with Daddy lately as he chases her around the living room. Daddy makes her giggle and giggle.

Yes, I realize she only has one sock on in this photo. She found her sock on the floor and wanted me to put it on her. She only found one of her socks to put on though so she ran around with one sock on.

Playing in the park with Daddy

We brought Daddy back to the park we went to a couple of weeks ago since we were in that neighborhood shopping. I think Daddy and Lauren had a good time. It was warm out but there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too hot.
Lauren showing Daddy how to shovel sand with her new sand toys.

We tried out the slide this time with Daddy. Lauren really enjoyed this one. She even got to slide down by herself as Daddy caught her at the bottom. No pics of that since we both had to manage that one.

Here is Lauren with her "smelling" face as she smells the flower. She obviously thinks that is what we look like when we smell the flowers she presents to us!

More smelling of the flowers in the park. I love her little face and all the expressions she has.
