Travel and Day 1 - London

So this is going to be a little bit of a time warp, but we are going to go through some of the things that we had fun with on our first trip FAAAAR away from home and the mow mow's....

After meeting up with grandma and grandpa, we took BART into SFO and got situated for our flight. My seat was originally not next to Lauren and Bethy's but we fixed that at the gate(stupid United). I guess I've never(or not for a long time) travelled international on a Friday evening, but it was pretty empty out there. We got to the gate with plenty of time, sat down and let Lauren run around a little bit.... and she even made a friend, named Lucca. There was another family that had been in the airport for over 6 hours as they were going on our flight, but had missed due to connection their previous attempt to London.

Being that we had a good chunk of time before our flight left, she had a chance to roam around the gate. She ran back and forth... back and forth. Had some grapes, sat in her chair...needed a change.

On the flight she was actually really good. She slept roughly 7 of the 10 hours, and other than the fact that she was able to reach the chair in front of her, was very well behaved.

Once into Heathrow and with our baggage gathered we hopped on the Heathrow Express over to Paddington Station, dropped off our luggage to the hotel and decided to go for a brisk walk over to Notting Hill.

Her schedule was obviously as off as ours was as she slept a good portion of the time as we navigated through the twilight streets of Notting Hill and Portabello. The walk was far, and the air was cool, but it was something that was a good warm up for the rest of our trip, and helped us to burn off some energy and try and get back on a decent sleeping schedule..... sortof.

Lauren was up around 12:00AM... so we decided to let her play for a bit, and give her a bath to try and relax and put her down to bed.....

Travelling with her and lots of bags was a challenge, that both Grandma and Grandpa helped with. At the same time, it was good experience in learning how to travel as well. We brought the big Britax car seat along this time, but ended up not needing it for the rest of the trip and checked it as luggage on the flight back. The Quinny stroller that we brought worked like a charm despite the rough roads and sidewalks of London.
