April 23, 2008

She started doing "patty cake, patty cake" on Friday last week. It is so cute to see her clapping. Her clapping is with her left hand open and her right hand closed. I was at work when Grandma proudly told me over the phone. Lauren showed me and Daddy her new talent when we went over for dinner that night. She had this excited look on her face. She always smiles so big when she is doing something she knows is new. Seeing that joy on her face always makes me happy. She now practices her clapping all the time, even when we don't sing the song. I will try to capture a video of this and post it.

Lauren is also starting to make connections faster between objects and their names. She knows what/who clock, fan, cat, cross, Daddy, Mommy, Grandma, and Grandpa are. Grandma is now teaching Lauren about her piggies.

Lauren is also practicing standing without leaning on anything. The other day daddy saw her get to a stand while holding a water bottle with a huge smile on her face.

Lauren is always so curious about the things around her. You will often catch her inspecting things to try and figure it out. Here she is at Auntie Joy's house trying to figure out the camera case as Auntie Ramona looks on.

Lauren really likes her Cheerios. Here she is playing with a container of them.

"Wait, Wait I think i can get one out by gnawing on the top..."
Lauren has been working out lately. Mainly strengthening her legs to try to stand on her own. But Daddy thought she should start working out her arms. Starting out with thirty pounds might be a bit much but she was up for the challenge :)!!

"You wanna try it??"

Lauren handles one pund weights just fine. I'm afraid she will drop the two pounds on her toes.
